On 10 July 2024, the repair works will begin on the Bulgarian side of the Giurgiu – Ruse Bridge, and will last approximately 730 days. They will take place every day, for 10-12 hours during the day.

During the repair works, road traffic will be carried out on a single lane, with a traffic light system.

The Romanian Border Police recommends the following crossing points open in international regime on the border with the Republic of Bulgaria:

- By Ferry: Calafat, Bechet, Zimnicea, Turnu Măgurele, Călărași

- By road: Vama Veche, Ostrov, Negru Vodă. In Lipnița and Dobromir only cars with a maximum authorized total weight of 3.5 t. can cross the border, and operating hours are between 08.00 - 20.00.
